Y-Bank is an experiential financial education and career exploration program for Indonesian youth that starts in January 2019. The program is a joint initiative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Financial Services Authority of Indonesia (OJK).
Y-Bank stands for ‘Youth Bank’ and attempts to answer the question ‘Why Bank?’ in a meaningful manner for youth. This learning by doing financial education program emphasizes the practical skill building in the real world with a focus on Indonesia and achieving its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The course is designed for youth ages between 20-26 who are interested to participate in and influence the financial eco-system.
The students will gain an understanding of:
- The financial eco-system, the roles of all the actors involved, and the products and services offered.
- The key SDG challenges and effective financial tools to address Indonesia’s priorities.
- Using financial services and systems of exchange to achieve their education, career, and life aspirations.
- Exploring a career and/or entrepreneurship in financial services including in the emerging Fintech sector.
- Becoming a savvy financial consumer and an informed stakeholder in the financial eco-system shaping their own financial markets.
